Saturdays by appointment, unless we've advertised that we're open.

Closed on Bank Holidays.

Getting here

From Dorchester town centre, Poundbury is about a mile to the west — a pleasant 20-minute walk or a short drive. Parking is available on the street outside the gallery and nearby.

From Weymouth, the gallery is around 8 miles — roughly 20 minutes by car, or a short train ride to Dorchester. Dorchester South and Dorchester West stations are both about a mile away.

The gallery is wheelchair accessible.

Yes — The Walnut Gallery is free to visit, and you're welcome to browse. We look forward to welcoming you.

Do I need to book?

No booking is needed Monday to Friday, 10am–5pm. Saturdays are by appointment unless we've advertised that we're open, and we're happy to arrange a time outside our usual hours too — just call or email.

Can I buy the artwork?

Yes. The works in the gallery are for sale — original paintings, fine art prints, ceramics, sculpture, textiles and handcrafted wooden pieces. Ask us about anything that catches your eye.

How often do exhibitions change?

Our programme of Featured Artists and solo exhibitions runs from February to December. See what's on now, or follow us on Instagram and Facebook for new Featured Artists.
