How we handle your information, in plain terms. If anything here is unclear, email us and ask — we would rather explain it than leave you guessing.
Who we are
The Walnut Gallery, 16 Crown Street West, Poundbury, Dorset DT1 3DW. We are responsible for the information described on this page. You can reach us at hello@walnutgallery.co.uk or 01305 343526.
When you contact us
If you email or phone the gallery, we keep what you send so we can answer you — your name, your contact details and whatever you have written to us. We use it to reply and to keep track of conversations about work, commissions and visits. We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful to us as a record of the gallery's dealings, and no longer.
The mailing list
If you join our mailing list we keep your name, your email address and the topics you told us you were interested in. We use them to send you news about exhibitions, private views and the gallery. We send these only because you asked us to, and you can stop them at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, or by emailing us. When you unsubscribe we remove your details from the list.
We use MailerLite to manage the list and send the emails, so your details are held on their systems as well as ours. They act on our instructions and do not use your details for anything of their own.
This website
We use two tools to understand how the site is being used: Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without setting any cookies or identifying anyone, and Google Analytics, which does set cookies in your browser and tells us things like which pages are read and roughly where visitors come from. We look at this as totals, not as individuals, and we do not use it to build a profile of you or to advertise to you.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
The site is hosted by Cloudflare and our email runs on Microsoft 365, so both handle information in passing as part of getting pages and messages to you.
What we do not do
We do not sell your details. We do not pass them to other galleries, artists or mailing lists. We do not use them to advertise to you elsewhere.
Your rights
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. You can also ask us to stop using it for a particular purpose — in practice that usually means taking you off the mailing list. Email hello@walnutgallery.co.uk and we will deal with it.
If you think we have handled your information badly and we have not put it right, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first so we have the chance to fix it.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page. Last updated 14 September 2026.
